Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities 2024

To encourage parents from minority communities to send their children to school by lightening their financial burden, the Pre Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities is launched. The scholarships shall be provided for the entire course. The schedule for application process will be announced by the concerned State/ UT Administration via advertisements in the leading language newspapers and local dailies. Eligibility Criteria

  • Scholarship will be available to the students of minority community studying in classes I to X in any government or private school. 
  • Students should have secured at least 50% marks in the previous final exam.
  • Annual income of their parents/ guardian from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1 lakh.
  • A student residing in a particular State/ UT will be entitled for scholarship under the quota of that State/ UT only irrespective of his/ her place of study.

How to apply?

Candidates can apply for the scholarship by visiting the National Scholarship Portal at www.scholarships.gov.in. Link to the portal will also be provided on the website of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, i.e. www.minorityaffairs.gov.in.

Important Documents

The following documents should be uploaded at the time of making the application:

  • Student photo
  • Verification Form to be provided by the Institution
  • Income Certificate issued by the Competent Authority
  • A self certified Community Certificate from the applicant of 18 years of age
  • Community Certificate certified by parent/guardian for applicant under 18 years of age
  • Self-attested copy of mark sheet
  • Fee receipt of current course year
  • Bank Account number of the student or parents/ guardian along with the IFSC Code of the bank branch
  • Residential/ Domicile Certificate
  • Aadhaar number of the student (if not available bonafide student certificate from the school and scanned copies of bank passbook and Aadhaar enrolment ID (if applied for Aadhaar)

Selection Procedure

  • Selection of the candidates for the award of scholarship will be done on the basis of their family income.
  • Marks obtained by the candidates do not play any major role in selection of candidates.
  • In case of same income, merit shall be generated on the basis of date of birth of applicant. Candidate older in age will be preferred.

Rate of scholarship

The amount of scholarship awarded to the candidates is as follows:

Admission & Tuition Fee

  • Admission Fee for Class VI to X: Rs. 500/- per annum (both Hosteller & Day Scholar)
  • Tuition Fee for Class VI to X: Rs. 350/- per month (both Hosteller & Day Scholar)

Maintenance Allowance

  • For Class I to V: Rs. 100/- per month for Day Scholar (for 10 months)
  • For Class VI to X: Rs. 600/- per month for Hosteller & Rs. 100/- per month for Day Scholar (for 10 months)
