National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education (NSIGSE) 2024

The national incentive scheme (initially known as Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Scheme) was launched to decrease the drop-out rates of the girl after class 8th. It aims at ensuring retention of the girl candidates in school till the age of 18 years. Girl candidates can apply for this incentive scheme through online mode. The last date for application submission will be tentatively in the month of January 2024. Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned below to be eligible National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education 2024:

  • SC/ ST girl students of any recognized school or all girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (irrespective of their caste) who have passed class 8th and are enrolled for class IX are eligible.
  • Age of the student should be below 6 years as on 31st March on the year of joining of class IX.
  • Married girls and girls studying in private unaided school are excluded from this scheme.
  • The scholarship is also not applicable to the students studying in central govt. schools.

Application Process

  • The application form for National Scheme of Incentive to Girls for Secondary Education will be made available on the official NSP website.
  • Basic personal and academic details related to the candidates will be asked in the application form.
  • Important documents in scanned format should also be uploaded into the application form.
  • Once these details are entered into the application form, the candidates can submit it online.

Selection Procedure

Selection of the girl candidates for awarding the scholarship will be done as per the rules decided by the authorities concerned.

Rate of scholarship

A sum of Rs. 3000/- will be deposited under fixed deposit in a public sector bank in the name of every eligible girl child. Term period will be counted from the date of deposit to the date on which the girl child attains the age of 18 years. The amount can be withdrawn only when the girl child attains the age of 18 years and not before.
