National Means Cum Merit Scholarship 2024

Central Sector Scheme National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme aims to encourage students from financially week background to continue their studies. The candidates are selected based on the two scholarship test i.e. MAT and SAT. The application form will release in online mode through the national scholarship portal. National Means Cum Merit Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

The following eligibility criteria should be met in order to get this scholarship

  • The annual income of the parents from all sources should not be more than 1.5 Lakhs.
  • The student should be studying in a recognized school or college.

Application Form

The application form for national means cum merit scholarship will release in online mode only. Interested candidates who want to apply may access the application form through the national scholarship portal i.e., www.scholarships.gov.in. All the candidates should ensure that they fill the application form correctly because the documents will be verify later on.

Selection Process

The selection process will consists of the following two tests-

  1. Mental Ability Test (MAT)
  2. Scholastic Ability Test (SAT)

Mental Ability Test

  • It consists of 90 multiple choice objective type questions
  • The questions will be testing verbal and non-verbal meta-cognitive abilities like reasoning and critical thinking.
  • The questions can be asked on topics like analogy, classification, numerical series, pattern perception, hidden figure etc.

Scholastic Ability Test

  • This test also consists 90 multiple choice objective type questions
  • The questions will cover subjects like science, social studies and mathematics as taught in classes VII and VIII.

Note: The duration of each test will be 90 minutes.

Result declaration and Selection Process

  • The aspirants should pass both the tests i.e. MAT and SAT with a minimum of 40 % marks in aggregate taken together for these two tests.
  • The cut off for SC/ ST candidates will be 32%
  • Applicants must also note that at the time of selection for the award of scholarship, the student must have scored at least 55% mark or equivalent grade in Class VIII examination. There will be 5 % relaxation for SC/ST students.

Amount of Scholarship

  • The amount of scholarship is Rs. 12000/- per annum @Rs. 1000 per month.
