MH CET Exam Pattern- Marking Scheme, Distribution of questions, Syllabus

The MH CET Exam Pattern contains information about the number of questions, type of question, duration of the test, other useful details related to the MH CET exam. MH CET stands for Maharashtra Common Entrance Test. This test is administered by Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai.

The aim of conducting this test is to choose candidates for admission to various professional first-year degree courses in the field of Engineering/ Technology/ Agriculture and Pharmacy. Apart from MH CET is also a gateway for Pharm.D admission. To do well in the exam, candidates should know and understand the MH CET exam pattern. MH CET Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of the MH CET test is explained below.

  • Date of examination – The written exam is going to be conducted in various exam centre in Maharashtra state from July/ August for PCM & PCB.
  • Mode of examination – Offline (Pen and paper based test)
  • Type of questions – Objective type multiple choice questions
  • Number of papers – Three
  • Total Marks – Each paper will carry 100 marks
  • Duration of the exam – 90 minutes (1 hour and 30 minutes ) for each paper.
  • Language of questions – The questions of Mathematics will be asked in the English language only. For Physics, chemistry, and biology, the questions will be asked in English/ Marathi/ Urdu languages.
  • Choice of answering the question – It is compulsory to answer all the questions.
  • Marking Scheme – Mathematics questions will carry 2 marks each. For other subjects, each question will carry 1 mark.
  • Negative marking – There is no provision for the negative marking.

Syllabus of MH CET

  • The syllabus of MH CET examination consists of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany), and Biology (Zoology) subjects.
  • Questions will be asked as per the current curriculum of  HSC (10+2) & 11th class of the HSC Board of Maharashtra.
  • 80% of the questions will be derived from class 12th syllabus and 20% of the question will be from the class 11th syllabus.

Some helpful instructions for candidates preparing for the MH CET exam

  • Those interested candidates who are looking to get admission into Engineering and Technology courses need to attend paper 1 and paper 2.
  • Candidates seeking admission to courses in Pharmacy like Pharm. D need to appear for paper 1 along with Paper and/ or paper 3.
  • Paper 1, Paper 2, and Paper 3 will be conducted on separate OMR answer sheets. Once the exam is complete, candidates have to hand over the OMR sheet to the invigilator.
  • To fill the circle in the OMR sheet, candidates have to use the black ballpoint pen.
  • Candidates should fill the circle very carefully. They are not allowed to change the filled circle later on.
  • Aspirants should fill the circle completely while answering. They can not use a dot, tick, half-circle, etc. Such methods are invalid ways of answering.
