Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering

Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE 2018) is conducting by IIT Guwahati on February 03- 04 & February 10- 11, 2018 (Saturdays & Sundays). The seven zonal IITs including Delhi, Kharagpur, Bombay, Kanpur, Madras, Roorkee, and Guwahati and IISC will jointly conducts GATE exam on rotation basis.

The examination organizes for admission to various M.Tech/M.E courses available under the IITs, NITs, GFTI and various private institutions. Interested and eligible candidates should fill the GATE 2018 application form as per the scheduled date.

Through GATE Score, candidates may also take direct admission in PhD course. The GATE 2018 will also conduct for international candidates in Ethiopia, Singapore, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and United Arab Emirates (U.A.E).

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should satisfy the important eligibility criteria before applying

Qualifying Degree Qualifying Degree & Examination Details of Eligible applicants Qualification Year should not be later than
B.Tech/ B.E/ B.Pharma Candidate should hold Bachelor’s degree in Technology / Engineering (4-years after 10+2 or 3 years after Diploma in Technology/ Engineering).

Candidates appearing in the final year of such courses may also apply.

B.Arch Candidates holding Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (5-years programme) may apply Currently in the final year or already have finished the examination 2018

GATE Application Form: How to apply?

GATE application/ registration process will available via online mode only. Interested and eligible applicants can complete their registration process through GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). The authority will release the application form from 1st September 2017. Candidate should fill their personal as well as educational details online from the official website. Also, they have to upload the scanned images of signature, photograph and other important documents.

For successful application, candidate should pay the applicable fee. They can pay the fee either through net banking or debit card or e-challan.

Admit card

Candidates can download the admit card from the official website. The GATE Admit card will available online from 5th January 2018. Candidates need to enter some important details such as GOAPS enrollment ID and password in order to download their admit card. They need to bring the admit card along with one original identity proof while appearing in the examination hall.

Syllabus

The GATE exam is conducted for the 23 papers (including petroleum engineering programme introduced last year). The applicants need to select the only one paper as per their preference. There is a separate syllabus for each paper.

Answer key

The authority will release the answer key after a few days of the examination. The applicants can match their answers online with the official answer key from the official website. Besides this, the applicants can also challenge the GATE answer key by payment applicable fee.

Result

The result of GATE will be available on 17th March 2018. Candidates check/download their result online from the official website of authority. After the result announcement, qualified applicants can also download their score card from the GOAPS portal.

Counseling process

CCMT (Centralized Counselling for M.Tech/M.Arch/M.Plan) will conduct the GATE counseling process. Through counselling, the applicants will enroll into NITs, IISC, and IITDM.  The allotment of seats is made on the basis of the score card/ merit obtained by the candidate.
