CLAT ExamCLAT stands for Common Law Admission Test. It is a national-level entrance exam. The consortium of National Law University (NLU’s) conducts this exam every year.   • The CLAT Application Form releases in online mode only. Authorities do not accept the application form in any other mode.
  • It is necessary for candidates to provide their personal email and Phone number at the time of registration.
  • In the main application form, aspirants have to provide their details such as name, address, personal details, and other education details.
  • Aspirants are also required to upload scanned images of their photographs and signatures in the application form. The size of the document should be in JPG/ JPEG.
  • The size of the candidate’s photograph should be between 20 KB to 50 KB. At the same time, the size of the candidate’s signature should be between 10 KB to 20 KB.
  • Candidates should fill in the details carefully. Otherwise, the application form can get rejected.
  • Last date to submit the form will be in the month of June.
  • At the time of filling the form, candidates should fill in their preference of 22 NLUs.
  • Authorities will also provide, CLAT application correction facility for a limited time. With the help of this facility, applicants can fix their mistakes in the application form.
  • There is no need to send any hard copy of the application form to the CLAT office.
  • Aspirants should take a printout of the application form and keep it safe for future reference.

How to apply for CLAT?

  • First and foremost, you need to visit the official website.
  • On the homepage, you should click “New Registration”.
  • Complete the registration process by entering your basic details i.e. name, mobile number, email ID, etc.
  • Notification regarding the generation of your login credentials will be sent to your mobile number and email address.
  • Sign-in to the portal by entering the credentials generated during registration.
  • Choose the course for which you want to apply.
  • Enter your complete academic, personal, and contact details in the main application form.
  • Make sure you enter the details correctly. An application form can get rejected due to incorrect details.
  • Aspirants also need to upload scanned images of their photograph, signature, and other documents at the time of entering the details.
  • All documents other than photographs and signatures should be in PDF format.
  • Click on the “Next” button after uploading the images.
  • Choose your category and give your NLUs preferences.
  • Click on the “Make Payment” button and submit the application form.
  • Check all details entered in the application form and make sure they are correct.
  • Then, click on the “Submit” button.
  • Finally, take a printout of the application form and keep it safe for future requirements.

Application Fee

The application fee for different category candidates is as follows.

  • General/ PWD/ NRIs/ PIOs/ OCI candidates – Rs. 4000/-
  • SC/ ST and BPL category candidates – Rs. 3500/-

CLAT Eligibility Criteria

The application forms of ineligible candidates will be summarily rejected. So, candidates must check the eligibility criteria carefully. The CLAT Eligibility Criteria are as follows.

  • Nationality –  Indian/ NRIs/ OCIs/ PIOs candidates are eligible to apply.

For UG Courses

  • Age Limit – There is no upper age limit for admission
  • Educational Qualification – Aspirants should have passed 10+2 or its equivalent from the recognized board.
  • Marks Criteria – Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent exams with a minimum of 45% marks. 40% marks in case of candidate belonging to reserve (SC/ ST) category.
  • Appearing – Students going to appear for the 10+2 or equivalent exam are also eligible. However, such candidates must produce evidence of their passing exam at the time of admission.

For PG Courses

  • Age Limit –  There is no upper age limit for admission
  • Educational Qualification – Candidates must have completed LLB from a recognized board or university.
  • Marks Criteria – Aspirants should have passed the LLB Examination with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. SC/ ST candidates need only 45% aggregate marks.
  • Appearing – Those candidates who are studying in the final year of LLB are also eligible.
