Common Admission Test (CAT) is a national level entrance test organized by IIMs on a rotational basis to select the candidates for admissions. In the same way, CAT 2024 will be held in order to screen the most eligible candidates for enrolment into management courses in different IIMs. Apart from IIMs, several other reputed B-schools will also consider the CAT 2024 score. The candidates can fill the application form for the entrance exam in online mode from 3rd August 2024. The admission test will also be conducted in online mode hopefully in November 2024.

CAT 2024 Important Dates

CAT 2024 Exam Pattern

The CAT 2024 exam pattern is given below as:

• Mode of exam: Computer-based test
• Exam duration: 3 hours (1 hour for each section)
• Number of questions: 100
• Type of questions: Objective type (MCQ) and Type In The Answer (non-MCQ) type
• Total marks: 300
• Marking scheme: 3 marks will be given for each right answer
• Negative marking: 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer in objective type questions. There will be no negative marking for Type In The Answer type questions.

• Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension: English Usage or Grammar, Sentence Correction, Meaning-Usage Match, Reading Comprehension, Analogies or Reverse Analogies, Cloze Passage, Jumbled Paragraph, etc

CAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The minimum criteria that must be fulfilled by the CAT 2024 aspirants are mentioned below:

• The candidates should hold a bachelor’s level degree or equivalent in any stream earned from a recognized university/ institute.
• The candidates must score a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates) or equivalent CGPA in the qualifying exam.
• Those in the final semester of their bachelor’s degree (in the year 2020) or those whose final year results are awaited are also eligible to apply, given that they will meet these criteria at the time of admission.
• The applicants with a professional degree (CA/ CS/ ICWA) are also eligible to apply.

CAT Application Form 2024

The candidates can register online for CAT 2024. The registration/ application form will be made available on the official CAT website. The candidates will have to provide their personal, qualification, contact and other details into the application form.

• The choice for exam center will also be provided into the application form.
• The candidates will also have to upload their photograph and signature in scanned format into the application form.
• After submitting all the important details into the form, the candidates can submit the application form.
• Along with the application form, the candidates will also have to submit a prescribed amount of application fee.
• The candidates must keep a copy of the filled-in application form along with them for future reference.
• Provision to make changes in certain fields of the application form might also be provided to the candidates.

Application fee:

• The application fee will be Rs. 1900/- for general and OBC candidates and Rs. 950/- for SC/ ST/ PWD candidates.
• The fee payment can be done in online mode using credit card/ debit card/ net banking.
• The application fee once submitted will not be refunded under any circumstances.

CAT 2024 Admit Card

• The admit card for the entrance test will be made available on the CAT website.
• The candidates who have submitted their applications successfully will be able to download their admit card.
• A printout of the admit card along with a valid identity proof must be carried to the exam center.
• The details of the test center will be mentioned in the admit card and will not be changed under any circumstances.
• The admit card should be preserved by the candidates till the process of admission is over.

CAT 2024 Result

• The CAT result 2024 will be announced on the official website of CAT most probably in the month of December 2024.
• The intimation about the result may also be sent to the individual candidates on their registered mobile number via SMS.
• The score card of the candidates will also be made available online and can be checked using their application or other details.
• The candidates must download the score card as soon as it made available on the official website. No queries related to issuance of score cards will be entertained afterwards.
• The CAT score card will also be considered by non-IIM management schools all over the country.

Admission Procedure

• The process of admission will vary from one IIM to another. Their criteria for admission (eligibility, cut-off, etc) will also be different.
• The shortlisted candidates may also have to go through the Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) & Personal Interviews (PI).
• Previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs will also be considered during admissions.
