Candidates seeking admission to engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu state can submit their applications online. It is being expected that the application form for the admission will release in April 2024. Selection of the candidates for enrolment will be done on the basis of their merit in the class 12th exam. Only the candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria should proceed with the admission process. TNEA 2024 Eligibility Criteria

The basic eligibility criteria to apply for TNEA 2024 are discussed below:

Age criteria: 

  • There is no age limit prescribed for admission (except for marine engineering course where the maximum age limit is 25 years).

Educational qualification:

  • The applicants should have cleared their HSC (Academic or Vocational) or equivalent exam with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry scoring not less than 45% marks in aggregate of these subjects (40% marks for reserved category candidates).

Nativity:

  • Tamil Nadu candidates who have passed their class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII exams from schools situated in Tamil Nadu are eligible.
  • Tamil Nadu native candidates who have passed any of the class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII exams from schools situated outside Tamil Nadu can also apply.
  • Children of Central Government Employees may also apply for admission irrespective of their nativity, provided their parents or guardians (only if both parents are not alive) have been serving in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past 5 years at the time of submission of application.
  • Children of employees in Public Sector or Government recognized Institutions who at the time of submission of application employed in Tamil Nadu continuously for the past five years can also apply irrespective of their domicile.
  • Sons and daughters of All India service Tamil Nadu cadre officers are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates who are Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee and have studied in Tamil Nadu can apply too.
  • Other state candidates who have studied class VIII, IX, X, XI and XII in Tamil Nadu are eligible to apply.

TNEA Application Form 2024

The TNEA 2024 application form is expected to release in the month of April 2024 and will be available only through online mode. Candidates can obtain the application form by visiting the official website www.tneaonline.in or www.tndte.gov.in.

  • Candidates will have to register themselves by providing details such as name, date of birth, gender, email id, mobile number, etc.
  • An OTP will be sent on the registered mobile number and after OTP verification, the process of registration will complete.
  • Now using the registered email address and password the candidates can obtain the application form.
  • To fill the application form, personal and academic details of the candidates should be provided.
  • Candidates should also upload their photograph and signature into the application form in scanned format.
  • The duly-filled application form can then be submitted online along with the prescribed amount of application fee.
  • On successful submission, a printout of the application form should be taken and kept safe for future reference.

Application fee:

  • Candidates of general/ OBC category need to pay an amount of Rs. 500/- as application fee.
  • For candidates belonging to SC/ ST/ SCA category, the application fee will be Rs. 250/.
  • For each special reservation category, the candidates need to pay an additional amount of Rs. 100/-.

Mode of payment:

  • Online mode: Online payment of application fee can be done using net banking or debit card/ credit card.
  • Offline mode: For offline submission of application fee, payment can be done via challan submission at TNEA Facilitation Center (TFC).

TNEA 2024 Document Verification

  • Candidates who register themselves successfully for the admission process can proceed with the document verification round.
  • Details regarding the document verification round will be communicated to the candidates via a call letter.
  • The candidates should report for the verification as per the schedule and at the center mentioned in their call letter.
  • Only those candidates whose documents are verified successfully will be considered for the admission.

Important Documents

Candidates need to carry the following documents (original as well as photocopy) with them at the time of reporting for document verification at the TNEA Facilitation Center. Original copies of these documents should be uploaded on the website as well after the registration process is over.

  • 10th Mark Sheet
  • HSC First year (+1) Marksheet
  • HSC Second year (+2)/ Equivalent Mark sheet
  • HSC Hall Ticket
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Permanent Community Certificate for ST, SC, SCA, MBC & DNC, BC and BCM (either Permanent card or electronic form/ digitally signed e-Certificate)
  • Nativity Certificate (only in electronic form/ digitally signed e-Certificate) (if applicable)
  • Income certificate (if applicable)
  • First Graduate Certificate (only in electronic form/ digitally signed e-Certificate) and
  • First Graduate Joint Declaration (if applicable)
  • Sri Lankan Tamil Refugee Certificate (if applicable)
  • Relevant certificates for Son/ Daughter of Ex-service men with Parent’s discharge certificate and ID card
  • Differently abled persons should bring Medical Certificate obtained from Medical Board (Consists of 3 Doctors)
  • Eminent sports persons should submit all sports achievements certificates with necessary forms

TNEA Merit List 2024

  • After the document verification round is over, preparation of merit list will begin.
  • The list will be made on the basis of marks scored by the candidates in the subjects of Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry of 10+2 level.
  • Candidates can check their names, overall rank and community rank in the merit list by visiting the official website of TNEA.
  • The merit list should be checked for any discrepancy and if found, it should be communicated to TNEA.
  • Further rounds of admission process of the candidates will be carried out as per their ranking.

TNEA 2024 Counseling

  • Candidates with names in the merit list will have to attend the counseling round starting from the month of July 2024.
  • At the time of counseling, the candidates will be asked to provide their choice for course specialization and college.
  • After they are done providing their choices, the applicants should lock the same on or before the last date.
  • Candidates can add, edit or delete their choices any number of times before final locking.
  • Seats will then be allotted to the candidates on the basis of their rank and the choices made.
  • Different rounds of counseling will be conducted depending on the number of applications received.

TNEA Admission Process 2024

  • Candidates who are allotted a seat during each round of counseling can either accept or reject the allotment.
  • Those who accept the seats allotted to them, allotment letters will be generated for such candidates.
  • Candidates should take a printout of the allotment letter and carry it with them while reporting the allotted institute for admission.
  • Formalities of admission such as payment of fee, submission of documents, etc should be completed by the candidates as required.
  • Once all the formalities are completed successfully, final admission will be granted to the candidates.
  • Applicants must report for the admission as per the specified schedule or else their candidature will be cancelled.

FAQs

There was an error in my application form that I noticed after its submission. Is it possible to make correction in it?

Once submitted, it is not possible to make correction in the application form. It is suggested that you check the application form very carefully before submitting it online.

Can candidates of outside Tamil Nadu state apply for TNEA?

Candidates who meet the nativity criteria mentioned above in the eligibility criteria clause can only apply for TNEA.

In case of any discrepancy in merit list, whom should I contact?

If any error is found in the merit list, the same should be communicated to the office of the Secretary, TNEA at Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai – 600 025.

If I haven’t cleared my class 12th exam yet, can I apply for TNEA 2024?

The candidates who will clear their class 12th exam before the commencement of seat allotment are eligible to apply for TNEA 2024.

Is there any way I can ask for a refund on the application fee?

Once submitted, the application fee will neither be refunded nor be transferred under any circumstances.
