SSC CHSL Exam Pattern: Question Paper for Tier I & II

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the respective authority which organizes the SSC CHSL exam every year. Candidates who want to appear in the exam must know about the SSC CHSL exam pattern. The exam pattern of SSC CHSL exam gives the knowledge related to the number of sections, marking scheme, total marks, duration etc of Tier I, Tier II and Tier III of SSC CHSL exam. The recruitment process of SSC CHSL involved three tiers i.e. tier 1, tier 2, and tier 3.

As per the conducting authority, the SSC CHSL Tier I exam will be held in computer based mode in various sessions. The tier -1 includes objective type questions of 200 marks from 4 sections i.e. General Intelligence, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and General Awareness. The Tier- 2 of SSC CHSL will be a descriptive type exam of 100 marks whereas the Tier -3 exam comprise of skill test/typing test. SSC CHSL Selection process

The SSC CHSL selection process will include following steps:

  • Stage 1: Tier-1 (Written Objective Type exam for 200 Marks) – (Online Mode)
  • Stage 2: Tier-2 (Written Descriptive Type exam for 100 Marks) – (Offline Mode)
  • Stage 3: Tier-3 (Skill Test / Typing Test conducts only for candidates who qualify the tier-2 exam)

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier-1 Examination

  • The exam will consist of 100 objective type questions for 200 marks.
  • It will be held in online mode.
  • There will be four parts in a question paper i.e. (Part-1) General Intelligence, (Part-2) English Language, (Part-3) Quantitative Aptitude, and (Part-4) General Knowledge/ General Awareness
  • Duration of the entrance exam will be 75 Minutes.
  • Paper will be conducted both in English and Hindi language for part 1, 3 and 4.
  • Each correct answer will carry 2 marks.
  • For each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of 0.50 marks.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern for Tier-2 Examination

  • The paper is the descriptive type and will be held in offline mode i.e. pen & paper based.
  • Applicants are needed to write essay / letters / précis / application writing etc.
  • The test will carry 100 marks.
  • The duration of exam will be 60 minutes i.e. 1 hour.
  • It will be written either in Hindi or in English language.

SSC CHSL Exam Pattern of Tier 3 examination

Tier III of SSC CHSL will be a Skill Test / Typing Test. The skill test of SSC CHSL tier III will be held only for Data Entry Operator posts whereas typing test will be applicable for Postal Assistant/Sorting Assistant LDCs and Court Clerks posts.

The tier III will be qualifying in nature. Candidates need to qualify the Skill Test with Data Entry Speed of at least 8,000 key depressions per hour on computer to get appointed for the said post as per their position in the merit list. The commission will organize skill test for 15 minutes only. It should be noted that the typing test will be held in English or Hindi. Candidates need to complete a passage within 10 minutes.
