NEET Application Form: Online Registration, How to Apply, Dates

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is the authority responsible for organizing the NEET entrance exam. This is the most popular medical entrance exam in India in which lakhs of candidates appear every year. Those interested candidates who want to appear for this exam need to fill and submit the application form before the last date. However, it is important for all candidates to ensure that they are eligible before filling the form. An application form is considered incomplete without payment of an application fee. In this post, we are going to provide all the necessary details related to NEET Application Form.

Things required to fill the NEET Application Form

Candidates are advised to keep the following documents handy at the time of filling the application form of NEET.

  • Scanned copy of passport size photograph of the candidate in JPG/ JPEG format. The size of this image should be 10 kb to 200 kb.
  • Scanned copy of passport size photograph of the candidate in JPG/ JPEG format. The size of this image should be 10 kb to 50 kb.
  • Details of credit card, debit card, and internet banking only if you are looking to pay the application fee online.
  • Scanned copy of 10th Class certificate in JPG format. The size of this image should be 100 kb to 300 kb.
  • Scanned image of Post Card size Photograph of the candidate in JPG format and Image size should be between 50 Kb to 300 Kb.

How to apply for NEET examination?

Before filling the application form, it is important for you to ensure that you meet NEET Eligibility Criteria. The step by step process to fill and submit the NEET application form is explained below.

1st Step – Registration on the website

  • The first thing you need to do in order to begin the application process is visiting the official website. The official website of NTA is www.ntaneet.nic.in.
  • After opening the official website, you will have to click on the “New Registration” button that will appear on the left-hand side of the homepage.
  • Next, the instructions to fill the application form will display on your screen. You must read the instructions very carefully and click on the check box next to “I have read and understood all the instructions mentioned in the Information Bulletin”.
  • In the next step, you should click on the “Proceed to apply on the NEET (UG)” button.
  • On the next screen, a registration form will display on your screen. Here, you will have to enter the following registration details as accurately as possible – Candidate’s Name, Mother’s Name, Father’s Name, Category, Person with Disabilities, Disability Details, Date of Birth, Gender, Nationality, State of Eligibility, Identification type, Details of the identification document, Mobile Number, Email ID, Captcha code.
  • After entering all the registration details, you will have to click on the “Preview and Next” button.
  • While checking out the preview, you should verify the details you have entered.
  • Then, you should click on the “Next” button.
  • In the next step, you are required to create a password for your account so that next time you can sign-in easily. At this time, you also need to select a security question.
  • Next, you will get an OTP on your registered phone number. You will have to enter the OTP accurately.
  • Finally, click on the “Submit” button to save the changes.

The registration process is now completed. Now, your application number will display on your screen. You must note down the registration number carefully.

2nd Step – Login and fill details in the application form

  • After successful registration, you will have to sign-in by entering your application number along with your password.
  • The main application form will open on your screen after logging in.
  • After opening the main application form, you will have to enter the following details accurately.
    • Personal Details – Candidate’s Name, Father’s Name, Mother’s Name, SC, Date of birth, Gender, Nationality, State of Eligibility, Person with Disability, Do you belong to Minority Category, Are you suffering from Diabetes Type 1?, Identification type, Identification number.
    • Place of birth
    • Choice of Medium of Question paper
    • Choice of Examination City – 1st choice of examination city, 2nd choice of examination city, 3rd choice of examination city, 4th choice of examination city.
    • Academic Details (Class 10th or equivalent) – Name of school education board, Name of the school/ college, Address of the school/ college, year of passing, percentage of marks obtained in class 10th
    • Academic Details (Class 11th or equivalent) – Name of the school/ college, year of passing, place of study, state where class 11th school/ college is located, district where class 11th school/ college is located.
    • Academic Details (Class 12th or equivalent) – School Board of class 12th/ qualifying exam, name of the school/ college, address of the school/ college, place of study, state where class 12th school/ college is located, district where class 12th school/ college is located, year of passing/ appearing, % of marks obtained in class 12th/ qualifying examination, roll number of class 12th
    • Permanent Address – House number, locality, land mark, village/ town/ city, zip code, state, district, email address, mobile number, land line number with STD code.
    • Correspondence Address – House number, locality, land mark, village/ town/ city, pin code/ zip code, state, district.
    • Details of Parents/ Guardian – Father’s detail (Qualification, occupation, annual income), Mother’s detail (Qualification, occupation, annual income)
    • Dress Code
    • Security Pin – Enter the captcha code appearing on your screen.
  • While entering details in the application form, you also need to provide the “OTP” that you will receive on your registered mobile number.
  • Finally, click on the “Final Submit” button in order to submit your application form.

3rd Step – Upload Scanned Images

  • Once you are done submitting the application form, you need to upload the scanned images of your photograph and signature.
  • The scanned images of the photograph and signature should be as per the prescribed format mentioned below.
    • The format of the photograph should be JPG. The size of the scanned image of the photograph should be between 10 kb to 200 kb.
    • The signature of the candidate should be uploaded in JPG format only. Plus, the size of the signature file should be between 4 kb to 30 kb.
  • Finally, click on the “Upload” button.

4th Step – Application Fee payment

  • After uploading images on the application form, you will have to pay the required application fee.
  • The application fee to be paid by candidates of various categories are as follows.
    • General Candidates –
    • Other backward classes –
    • Schedule Caste/ Schedule Tribe –
    • Persons with Disabilities –
  • The NEET application fee can be paid either online or offline.
    • Online method – Net Banking, All debit card, Credit card, Unified Payment Interface (UPI)
    • Offline method – Cash deposit through e-Challan.

5th Step – Take the required printouts

  • The last step of NEET Application Form submission is taking printouts of the following documents. You should keep these printouts safe for future references.
    • Computer Generated Confirmation Page of NTA NEET Online Application
    • Copy of the System generated Self Declaration in respect of candidates from UTs of J & K and Ladakh who have opted for seats under 15% All India Quota
    • Proof of remittance of application fees.
