Karnataka Polytechnic 2022: Exam Syllabus, Pattern, Date, Eligibility

Karnataka Polytechnic 2022 will be conducted by the department of technical education (DTE), Karnataka for admission in different engineering and non-engineering diploma courses offered by the colleges in the state. Candidates can apply for admission by filling the application form for the same. The department will most probably release the application form in the 1st week of May 2022.

Before heading to the application form, students should make sure that they fulfill the eligibility requirements laid down by the authority for admission. Admission in the courses offered through Karnataka Polytechnic will be granted on the basis of the merit score obtained by the candidates in the concerned qualifying exam i.e. SSLC/ class 10th.

Application form

The application form for Karnataka Polytechnic 2022 can be obtained from the official website of DTE, Karnataka i.e. dte.kar.nic.in. Candidates need to download the application form from the web portal. The details in the form will include- name, email id, phone number, religion, father’s name, address, educational details and so on. Candidates are required to fill the application form with extreme care as once the form is submitted, no changes will be allowed. The information provided by the candidates will thoroughly be checked at the time of counselling. If by any means, the details given by the candidates are found to be incorrect or misleading, then the candidature of that candidate shall be cancelled by the authority. Applicants need to paste their recent passport-sized photograph on the form.

It is compulsory for the applicants to pay the requisite amount of application fee. Incomplete applications or those received without the application fee will be rejected by the authority. The filled-in form (along with Challan and self-attested photocopies of the documents) should be submitted in person to the nearest document verification center on or before the due date specified by the department to avoid the application from being rejected.

Application fee

The application fee for Karnataka Polytechnic admission are mentioned below-

  • General category candidates are required to pay Rs. 100/- towards the application fee payment.
  • SC/ ST and Category-I candidates need to pay Rs. 50/- as the application fee.
  • Payment of the application fee can be done through SBI Challan.

Eligibility criteria

For admission in different engineering and non-engineering diploma courses, candidates must satisfy the eligibility criteria laid down by the department. The Karnataka Polytechnic 2022 eligibility criteria are mentioned below-

Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of Indian.

Educational qualification:

  • Applicants should have done 5 years of academic study in Karnataka including the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates should have completed SSLC or class 10th from a recognized board with minimum 35% marks in aggregate.
  • Those who wish to apply for diploma in library science and information management should have passed Karnataka PUC-II or equivalent examination by obtaining minimum 35% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who have passed class 10th exam from CBSE/ICSE need to produce the eligibility certificate obtained from the Secretary, Board of Technical Examinations, at the time of document verification and online application submission process.
  • Those who wish to apply for part-time diploma courses need to produce NOC letter from their employer (if presently working) and should hold at least 2 years of experience in the concerned technical field after completing SSLC.

Selection procedure

In order to get selected for admission in various polytechnic courses, candidates will have to visit the nearest document verification center to get their documents verified by the authority. Candidates can submit the application form at the center too. Once the verification is done by the authority, candidates will received a printed copy of the application form and acknowledgement slip which they need to keep safe for future use.

The authority will then draft a merit list to select the candidates for admission based on their marks obtained in class 10th or the highest qualification received by them. Candidates can also raise objection on the merit list if they are not satisfied with it. If the objections raised by the candidates are found to be correct, then the authority will release a final merit list with corrections.

Candidates who are shortlisted as per the merit list are required to attend the online counselling session where they will be allotted a seat based on different parameters. Candidates need to pay the admission fee to receive the admission order from the nodal center. They are then required to visit the allotted institute to complete other formalities.

Merit list and counselling

  • The authority will prepare a merit list based on the marks obtained by the students in class 10th or its equivalent exam.
  • The list of the candidates who can appear for counselling will be displayed on the official website.
  • Shortlisted candidates will undergo the counselling round where they need to indicate their preference for colleges and course.
  • After the counselling is finished, a seat will be allotted to the candidates based on the following parameters- merit rank, preference given during counselling, availability of seat and fulfillment of the eligibility criteria.
  • Candidates can opt for another round of counselling if they do not like the college and course allotted to them.
  • After accepting the seat, candidates need to report to the concerned college to complete other formalities related to the admission.

  3. Rural Certificate
  4. Original Transfer Certificate/ T.C Endorsement (NOC) from the concerned Institutions
  5. Kannada medium study certificate
  6. Physical fitness certificate issued by the Registered Medical Practitioner
  7. 06 passport size photos
  8. Eligibility Certificate (wherever applicable)
  9. Caste Certificate
