AIIMS PG 2022: Exam Date, Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Application Form

AIIMS PG 2022 entrance exam will be conducted for providing admission to the candidates in MD/MS/M.Ch (6 years)/DM (6 years)/MDS programs offered by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Candidates can apply for the entrance test to be held twice a year via online mode only. The entrance exams will be organized in two sessions namely January and July sessions. The application form for January session will be made available in the month of August 2022 and for July session it will be available in the month of March 2022.

Candidates should ensure that they satisfy the eligibility criteria before they move ahead for the application form. After clearing AIIMS PG 2022 exam, candidates joining the degree courses of MD/MDS/MS will be called junior residents in the clinical disciplines and junior demonstrators in basic clinical disciplines. Institutional preference will be given to the candidates who have graduated from AIIMS.

AIIMS PG 2022 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for AIIMS PG entrance exam is given below-

  • Exam Mode: Online (computer-based test)
  • Duration: 3 hours for MD/MS courses and 90 minutes for MDS courses
  • Language: English only
  • Type of Questions: Objective type (MCQ based)
  • Total Number of Questions: 200 questions for MD/MS and 90 questions for MDS
  • Marking Scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for correct response
  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd marks will be deducted for incorrect response

AIIMS PG Syllabus

There is no specific exam syllabus prescribed by the authority therefore, candidates should prepare the subjects taught during graduation. Anything can be asked from the topics the candidates have studied during MBBS/BDS degree program. On a general note, the syllabus of AIIMS PG 2022 exam is quite exhaustive in nature. Hence, candidates should prepare accordingly to score good marks in the entrance exam.

AIIMS PG 2022 Application Form

To apply for the entrance exam, candidates must fill the online application form by visiting the official website of the AIIMS. Before heading to the application form, candidates should keep their documents ready along with the scanned photograph and signature. They first need to register themselves for the exam by providing their basic details such as address, phone number, email id, name, father’s name, religion, category, contact details etc. Once completing the registration, they’ll receive a unique ID and password which they must use for login into the website.

Using the login credentials, candidates need to fill the rest of the form where they will be asked to enter their educational details, choice of city from where they wish to take the exam, exam center and so on. After that, they should proceed for the application fee payment part. The applications received without the application fee will be rejected. Candidates should make sure that they submit their application on time to avoid disappointment.

Application Fee

General and OBC category candidates need to pay Rs. 1500/- (transaction charges applicable) as the application fee for the entrance exam. Those belonging to the SC/ST category must pay Rs. 1200/- + transaction charges as the application fee.  Candidates suffering from bench-mark disabilities are exempted from paying the application fee for the entrance exam.

Mode of Payment: The stated fee can be paid online through credit card/debit card/net banking.

AIIMS PG Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria which must be met by the candidates are provided below-

Nationality: Indian/OCI/PIO/Foreign Nationals can apply for the entrance exam.

Qualifying examination: Candidates must possess MBBS degree for MD/MS and BDS degree for MDS program from a university recognized by the Medical council of India/Dental council of India. The candidates must have completed the mandatory rotating internship of 12 months on or before 30th January 2020 or 30th July 2020.

Percentage required: Candidate should have obtained at least 55% marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) in the qualifying examination.

Admit card

Applicants can download the admit card of AIIMS PG entrance exam via online mode through the official web portal of the AIIMS. They must take a printout copy of the hall ticket and preserve the same till the admission is finished. It is compulsory for the applicants to bring the admit card to the exam hall failing which the authority will not allow them to take the test. Candidates also need to bring a valid ID proof along with the hall ticket. Any discrepancy in the admit card must be brought to the notice of the authority immediately.

Result and Admission

Candidates can check the result of the AIIMS PG exam by visiting the official website i.e. mdmsmch.aiimsexams.org. The result of January session will tentatively be announced in the last week of November 2021 and that of July session will be declared in the 2nd week of May 2022. Based on the percentile score, the authority will prepare a merit list of the candidates who will be participating in the counselling process.

Preference in admission will be given to those who have done their graduation from AIIMS. The seats remain vacant after that will be available to the other open category candidates in order of merit. Selected candidates will undergo the documents verification phase and counselling. Once the counseling is done, candidates will be allotted a seat in a course as per their merit rank.
