UPSC IES/ISS 2023: Application Form (From 19 April), Eligibility, Exam Date

To recruit the candidates for Indian Economic & Statistical Services, the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conduct a written exam. The candidates qualifying this UPSC IES/ISS 2023 exam will then be invited for the interview round. Those who successfully clear these rounds will be eligible for appointment. The interested candidates will be able to fill their online application form starting from 19th April 2023. UPSC IES/ISS 2023

  • Candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions before applying.
  • The application process will be completely online and no other mode will be entertained by the commission.
  • A valid email id and phone number that must be kept active should be provided at the time of online registration.
  • Successfully registered candidates will be able to download their admit card to appear for the exam.
  • Any kind of unfair means practiced inside the exam hall will lead to non-declaration of the result.
  • Mere issue of admit card will not imply that the candidature of any candidate has been accepted by the Commission.
  • Filling and submitting the DAF within the prescribed time limit is a must for the candidates who qualify their written test successfully.

  • Negative marking: One-third marks of the allotted marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer for objective type questions

Application Form

Candidates will be able to fill their UPSC IES/ISS 2023 application form in online mode. The form will be released on the official website of UPSC upsconline.nic.in. The applicants should keep all the important documents ready before they start filling out the application form.

  • The candidates will have to provide their personal details such as name, age, gender, category, etc and qualifying exam details such as passing year, marks obtained, etc into the application form.
  • Applicants will also have to upload their photograph and signature into the application form in scanned format.
  • The details in the application form must be entered very carefully as any kind of error in the application form can lead to its rejection.
  • After all the details are entered correctly into the application form, the candidates can submit it along with the prescribed fee.
  • Application form submitted without the application fee will not be considered as successful.

Application fee:

  • The candidates will have to pay Rs. 200/- as application fee except female/ SC/ ST candidates who are exempted from fee payment.
  • Application fee payment can be done using cash through pay-in slip submitted at any branch of SBI.
  • Online fee payment can be done using net banking facility of SBI or debit card/ credit card of any bank.

Eligibility Criteria

UPSC IES/ISS 2023 eligibility criteria in terms of nationality, age and qualification are given below:

Nationality:

The candidate must be either:

  • A citizen of India or
  • A subject of Nepal or
  • A subject of Bhutan or
  • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling or
  • A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling

Age limit:

  • A candidate must have attained the age of 21 years and must not have attained the age of 30 years on 1st August, 2023.

Relaxation in age:

In the case of ECOs/ SSCOs who have completed an initial period of assignment of five years of Military Service as on 1st August, 2020 and whose assignment has been extended beyond five years and in whose case the Ministry of Defence issues a certificate that they can apply for Civil employment and that they will be released on three months’ notice on selection from the date of receipt of offer of appointment 5 years

Academic qualification:

  • Indian Economic Service: The candidate must have a postgraduate degree in Economics/ Applied Economics/ Business Economics/ Econometrics from a recognized university.
  • Indian Statistical Service: The candidate must have a bachelor’s degree with Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics as one of the subject or a master’s degree in Statistics/ Mathematical Statistics/ Applied Statistics from a recognized university.

Note:

  • Those in the final year of their qualifying exam can also apply for the IES/ISS exam.
  • Candidates with a degree from Foreign University may also apply will be admitted to the examination at the discretion of the Commission.

Physical Standards:

  • Candidates must be physically fit according to physical standard for admission to Indian Economic Service/ Indian Statistical Service Examination.

Admit Card

  • Admit card to appear in the UPSC IES/ISS 2023 exam will be released on the official website of UPSC.
  • Candidates should take a printout of the admit card and carry it to the exam center or else they will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
  • In order to be safe from loss or damage, the candidates are advised to take multiple printouts of the admit card.
  • No admit card will be sent via post or any other mode other than released online.
  • The candidates who find any difficulty in downloading their admit card must immediately contact the commission regarding the same.

Result & Selection

  • The result of the written exam will be announced on the official website most probably in the month of August 2023.
  • Qualified candidates will then be invited to take part in the interview process.
  • Those who clear both the rounds successfully will then be considered for appointment.
  • Candidates who report for the interview should carry all the important documents along with them for verification.
  • The appointment of the candidates will be subject of fulfillment of eligibility criteria, document verification and number of vacancies.
