UGC NET 2025 entrance exam will be conducted at national level to determine eligibility of Indian students for Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor in universities and colleges across the country. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is the exam conducting authority of UGC NET. The entrance exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode only. Candidates must hold a Master’s degree or its relevant degree to become eligible for taking UGC NET 2025 entrance exam.

UGC NET 2025 Application Form

Candidates can apply for UGC NET 2025 only via online mode. To apply for the same, they need to fill the online application form by visiting the official website of the NTA i.e. https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/.

Candidates should avoid filling multiple application forms. The application form must be filled as per the correct knowledge and official records.

Applicants should note down their application number for future reference. They need to keep their relevant documents along with the scanned photograph and signature handy.

The images should be either in JPG format or in JPEG format. The application form must be submitted on or before the deadline specified by the authority.

It is mandatory for the applicants to pay the necessary application fee for the exam otherwise their applications will be rejected by the authority.

Candidates should take the printout copy of the filled-in application form and keep it safe for further use. They need not send the hardcopy of the application form to the authority.

UGC NET 2025 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must fulfill the eligibility criteria set by the authority for the  UGC NET exam. The eligibility criteria are as follows-

Age limit:

  • For JRF, the age of the candidates should not exceed 31 years as on 1st March of the year of admission. Candidates of SC/ST/OBC-NCL/PwD/Third Gender/Women applicants can claim relaxation in age by upto 5 years.
  • Assistant Professor: There will be no upper age limit for applying for Assistant professor.

Educational qualification:

  • Candidates should have done Master’s or its equivalent degree program from a recognized university. They should have completed their PG degree in Humanities and social science, computer science and applications, electronic science etc.
  • Those appearing in the final year of the Master’s degree program or are awaiting result can also apply for the exam.
  • Candidates should have secured minimum 55% (50% marks for candidates belonging to the OBC/ST/ST/PWD category) aggregate marks in the Master’s or equivalent degree program.

The syllabus of UGC NET 2025 is quite exhaustive in nature and the candidates are required to have a strong hold over the subject in which they have done their master’s or equivalent program in. Here is the syllabus for some of the programs-

  • Teaching and Research Aptitude: Teaching aptitude, research aptitude, communication, reading comprehension, logical reasoning, ICT, data interpretation, people and environment, higher education system etc.
  • Political Science: Political theory and thoughts, comparative politics, Indian government and politics, public administration, International relations, world politics, etc.
  • History: Basic concepts, ideas and terms, ancient Indian history, medieval Indian history, history of modern India, world history, etc.
  • Philosophy: Classical Indian philosophy, modern Indian thinkers, modern western philosophy, etc.
  • Economics: Micro-economics, Macro-economics, planning and development, public finance, Indian economy, statistical methods etc.

UGC NET 2025 Admit card

  • The admit card for UGC NET 2025 will be made available in one the official website of the NTA.
  • Candidates can download the same by login into the website using their application number, and password.
  • They should take the colored printout of the hall ticket and preserve it for future purpose.
  • The admit card will consist of information such as name of the candidate, exam venue, reporting time, subject code, paper, category etc.
  • Candidates should check these details very carefully and if any discrepancy is found then they must inform the authority immediately.
  • Applicants must bring the admit card and a valid ID proof to the exam venue otherwise they won’t be allowed to appear in the exam.

UGC NET 2025 Result

  • Candidates can check their result by visiting the official website of the NTA.
  • The authority will also release the answer key along with the results so that the candidates can assess their performance.
  • To qualify in the exam, candidates must secure the minimum cutoff marks as decided by the authority.
