neetNEET 2024: The candidates aspiring to get admissions in the top medical colleges situated all over the country will have to clear the NEET 2024 Medical Entrance Exam. The score of NEET exam is considered by several state and government colleges to enroll candidates in the medical courses. The applicants who satisfy the eligibility criteria can fill the application form and can download their admit card from the official website of NTA. The complete details related to NEET 2024 such as eligibility criteria, application form, exam pattern, syllabus, important dates, etc is provided in this article to guide the aspirants.

Eligibility criteria

The candidates appearing for NEET UG 2024 exam must satisfy the following edibility requirement:

Nationality

The applicants of Indian national/ OCIs/ NRIs/ PIOs/ Foreign Nationals can apply for NEET 2024 exam.

Age Criteria

The minimum age of the candidate must be 17 years as on or before 31st December of the year of admission. The upper age limit has been removed.

Qualification Criteria

  • The applicants must clear the qualifying exam from a recognized board with an individual pass in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English.
  • An aggregate of 50% marks (40% for OBC/SC/ST and OBC-PH/SC-PH/ST-PH & 45% for General-PH) in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology is also necessary.
  • The appearing candidates are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Eligibility for 15% All India Quota Seats

The applicants of Indian national/ OCIs/ NRIs/ PIOs/ FNs are eligible for 15% All India Quota Seats. The candidates of Jammu & Kashmir, who have opted for seats under All India Quota, will have to submit a copy of the system generated Self-Declaration.

NEET Application Form 2024

The application form for NEET UG 2024 has been released on the official website. Click the “Apply Online” link available on the website to get access to the application form.

The candidates are required to enter the personal details such as Category, Date of Birth, Nationality, etc. qualification details like Percentage of marks, Year of Passing, etc, communication details and choice for exam center. The email id, mobile number and mailing address provided in the application form must be correct as it can be used by the exam authority for future communication. After this, a provisional registration number will be generated. The Provisional Registration Number will also be sent on the registered E-mail Id and mobile phone of the candidate. The applicants need to submit the identity card details in the application form. The following is the list of permissible identity proof:

Indian Nationals Aadhaar Card No., Aadhaar Enrolment No. or Registration No. issued by Facilitation Centre.
Indian Nationals belonging to Meghalaya, Assam or Jammu & Kashmir Aadhaar Card No., Aadhaar Enrolment No., Registration No. issued by Facilitation Centre, Ration Card No., Bank Account No., Passport No. or No. of any Other Identity Card issued by Government.
Foreigner Nationals/ OCI/ PIO/ NRIs Passport Number

After filling the application form, the next step will be uploading of signature and photograph. The photograph should be of passport size taken with a white background. The photograph must be taken after 01.01.2024. The same copy of photograph must be carried at the exam center as it will be collected by the Centre Superintendent. The candidate should not forget to mention the name, application number, and roll number on the back side of the photograph. The specification of the uploaded documents should be as follows:

Application Fee:

The application fee can be submitted by Credit Card/ Debit Card/ Net Banking/UPI or E-wallet of Common Services Centre. The application fee will be non-refundable and in addition to the application fee, the service/ processing charges will also be applicable.

After making the payment of the application fee, the applicants are advised to take a printout of confirmation page and preserve it for the future reference. A copy of the confirmation page and self-declaration will also be emailed on the registered email id of the candidate.

Note:

  • The form incomplete in any way can be rejected and no change in any particulars will be possible once the form is submitted finally.
  • The candidate facing any issue while filling the application form can visit any of the Common Services Centres for submission of application form and payment of fee.

Those who chose paper medium as English will get the test booklet in English language only. For other languages, it will be bilingual (English+ selected language).

1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer

No overall deductions will be made.

Note: The paper in language other than English and Hindi will only be provided if the test centre lies in the state where the language is spoken primarily.

Syllabus for NEET 2024

The syllabus for the NEET UG 2024 will be based on a Common Syllabus notified by the Medical Council of India and prepared after the review of various State syllabi as well as that of CBSE, NCERT and COBSE. NEET 2024 Admit Card

The candidates can download the NEET 2024 admit from the official website. A copy of admit card in PDF format will also be emailed to the candidate on their registered email id. The applicants should take the print out of the admit card and affix a postcard size photograph in the space provided.

The important details such as Applicant’s name, roll number, Examination Venue, duration etc will be mentioned on the admit card.

The candidate should report at the exam center with the downloaded admit card with post card size photograph duly affixed on it and the proforma which is an attachment of admit card. In addition to this, the candidate must also bring one passport size photograph to be affixed on attendance sheet.

Kindly note that admit card will not be sent by post.

NEET Exam Centres

  • The NEET UG will be conducted in different major cities situated across the country.
  • The candidates will be asked to select the exam center of their choice at the time of filling the application form.
  • In case of unavailability of the selected exam center or any other issue, the exam conducting authority has the right to allot another center to the candidate (preferably a nearby center).
  • The exam center once allotted will not be changed under any circumstances.

NEET 2024 Answer Key

The answer key will be published on the official website of CBSE. The board offers the applicants the opportunity to challenge the published answer key. A non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 1000/- per question will have to be paid via debit card/ credit card. If any challenge is found correct, the answer key will be updated accordingly.

Result

The examination result will be declared online after evaluation of the answer sheet. By entering the registration number and the roll number, the applicants will be able to see their results. The applicants should download a copy of their result for future reference. The result of the NEET UG 2024 can be considered by different Central/State Governments medical colleges for providing admission. No provision for re-checking the answer sheet will be provided.

Tie-Breaker

In case of a tie, the following candidates will be preferred while ranking:

  • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Biology (Botany & Zoology) in the Test
  • Candidates obtaining higher marks in Chemistry in the Test
  • Candidates with less number of attempted wrong answers in all the subjects in the Test
  • Candidates older in age

Counseling and Admission

The counseling for the NEET UG 2024 qualified candidates under 15% All India Quota seats and central institutions will be conducted by MCC (Medical Counseling Committee)/ DGHS (Directorate General of Health Services). A notification related to this will be available on the official website of MCC. The candidates will be invited for counseling based on the merit list and All India Rank prepared by CBSE.

The counselling for admission in seats under the control of other States/ Universities/ Institutions will be held according to the notifications issued by the concerned authorities.

Depending on their category, it will be necessary for the candidates to obtain minimum of marks at certain percentile in NEET exam. The minimum percentile required is given as:

SC/ST/OBC candidates 40th percentile
UR-PH candidates (with Bench Mark disability) 45th percentile
SC-PH, ST-PH & OBC-PH candidates 40th percentile

The percentile will be decided on the basis of highest marks secured in the All India common merit list in NEET UG .

For PH candidates (with Bench Mark disabilities) 5%
