MUCLET 2022: Syllabus, Application Form, Exam Pattern

The University of Mumbai will be conducting MUCLET 2022 to select the candidates for admissions into its integrated five years BBA.LLB (Hons) course. The admissions will be offered into University National Law School, Fort Campus and School of Law, Thane Sub Campus. The candidates from all over the country are eligible to apply for admissions, however, 85% seats will be reserved for the students who are qualified and domicile of Maharashtra. The interested candidates can start submitting their application form tentatively from the month of March 2022.

Exam Pattern

Below given is the basic exam pattern for MUCLET 2022:

  • Mode of exam: Pen and paper mode
  • Duration of exam: 3 hours
  • Medium of exam: English
  • Type of questions: Objective type
  • Total marks: 100
  • Important topics: English Grammar and Vocabulary, General Knowledge and Current Affairs, Legal Aptitude, Reasoning and Basic Mathematics.

Syllabus

The syllabus of MUCLET exam is given below:

  • Basic Mathematics: Average, Proportion, Simple Interest, Compound Interest, Time and Work, Time and Distance, etc
  • Reasoning: Number Series, Blood Relation, Letter Series, Calendars, Venn Diagram, Coding and Decoding, etc
  • Legal Aptitude: Interest towards the Study of Law, Research Aptitude and Problem Solving Ability
  • English Grammar and Vocabulary: Reading Comprehension, Synonyms- Antonyms, Prepositions, Error Detection, One Word Substitution, etc
  • General Knowledge and Current Affairs: Indian and the World, Everyday Science, Social Studies, Awards and Honors, etc

Preparation Tricks

Below given are some basic tips for the candidates preparing for MUCLET 2022:

  • Keep yourself up-to-date with the current affairs going in India and around the world. Similarly, make your GK strong too.
  • You need to acquire a strong understanding of English grammar and vocabulary. Reading English newspaper will not only enhance your English vocabulary but at the same tie will also help you with the current affairs. For English grammar, you can study from Wren and Martin.
  • Practice the questions of reasoning and basic Mathematics from the previous years’ question papers. You can also refer RS Aggarwal for more practice.
  • Collect some good books for the legal aptitude section. You can refer legal aptitude by AP Bhardwaj for the same.
  • Remain focused towards your goal and do not let any distractions come between you are your preparation.

Eligibility Criteria

The below-mentioned eligibility criteria must be fulfilled by the candidates appearing for MUCLET 2022:

  • The candidates should have passed their class 12th or equivalent exam from any stream from a recognized board.
  • The candidate should have scored a minimum aggregate of 45% marks (40% in case of SC/ ST category candidates) in their class 12th board exam.
  • Those appearing in their 12th board exam in the year 2022 are also eligible.

Application Form

  • The MUCLET 2022 application form will be available for download on the official website of University of Mumbai.
  • The candidates should take a printout of the application form on a legal size plain paper and fill all the necessary details.
  • The necessary details include candidate’s name, father’s name, mother’s name, address, gender, category, nationality, domicile, choice for center of exam, choice of institute for admission, exam fee details and SSC and HSC exam details.
  • The candidate must not forget to affix their photograph and put their signature in the form at the specified location.
  • After providing all the details, the hard copy of the application form should be sent to the university’ office at any of the following addresses:

Documents to be enclosed with the application form:

  • 2 passport size recent photograph
  • Demand Draft of the required application fee
  • Attested copies of mark sheet of SSC (or equivalent)
  • Attested copies of mark sheet of HSC (or equivalent)
  • Attested copy of domicile certificate (in case of candidates seeking admission under 85% quota available for Maharashtra domiciled students)
  • Attested copy of caste certificate and validity certificate issued by the competent authority (in case of candidates belong to reserved category)
  • Attested copy of non creamy layer certificate issued by the competent authority (in case of candidates belonging to OBC/ NT category)

Application fee:

  • The application fee for MUCLET 2022 will be Rs. 2000/- for general category candidates and Rs. 1000/- for reserved category candidates.
  • The candidates can submit the application fee via demand draft drawn in favor of ‘Finance and Accounts Officer, University of Mumbai’, payable at Mumbai.

Admit Card

  • The MUCLET admit card 2022 will be made available on the official website of the university.
  • The candidates should take a printout of the admit card to be carried to the exam center.
  • The details of the exam will be mentioned on the admit card along with the details of the candidates.
  • The candidates who do not carry a valid admit card with them will not be allowed entry into the exam hall.

Exam Center

  • The exam will be conducted at Fort campus and Thane sub-campus of the University of Mumbai only.

Result & Interview

  • The result of the written test will be published on the official website.
  • On the basis of marks scored in the entrance test, a merit list will be prepared and displayed on the website.
  • The candidates whose names appear in the list will be called for a formal interview.
  • The final result will be declared on the basis of candidates’ performance in the test and the interview combined.
