IGNOU Admission 2020: IGNOU Application Form, Admission Process

The interested candidates can apply for the admissions in the courses offered by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). Admissions will be granted to the eligible candidates into different courses such as BA, MA, BCA, MCA, PGDAC, DNA, etc. The admission process will be different for different courses. For some courses, entrance exam will be conducted and or some others enrolment will be granted on the basis of qualifying exam marks. Application Form

The candidates can apply for IGNOU admission 2020 in online mode through the official website onlineadmission.ignou.ac.in/admission. The facility of online registration is available for different academic programmes offered by the university.

  • In the application form, the candidates will have to provide their personal details such as name, father’s name, date of birth, gender, email id, mobile number, etc.
  • Educational details such as relevant qualification, year of passing, percentage of marks, etc are also required to be entered.
  • The candidates will also have to upload their scanned photograph and signature in scanned format into the form.
  • After entering the details asked in the form, the candidates can submit it with the prescribed application fee related to their course.
  • The payment of the application fee can be done using credit card/ debit card/ net banking.
  • The candidates should keep a copy of the filled-in application form with them in case of future reference.

Eligibility Criteria for IGNOU Admission 2020

The eligibility criteria for certain courses offered by IGNOU are mentioned below:

For undergraduate courses:

  • BCA: The candidates who have passed their class 12th exam are eligible for admission in BCA course.
  • BSW: A pass in class 12th exam from a recognized board is required for admission in BSW course.
  • BA/ B.Com: Those who have passed their class 12th exam from a recognized board are eligible to apply.
  • Sc: A pass in class 12th with Science subjects or its equivalent is required to be eligible.

For postgraduate courses:

  • MBA: Any graduate (including Chartered Accountancy/ Cost Accountancy/ Company Secretaryship) with 50% marks (45% for reserved category) can apply.
  • MCA: A 3-year (minimum) bachelor’s degree from a recognized University and Mathematics as one of the subject at 10+2 level or graduation level is required.
  • MSW: Those with a bachelor’s degree from any recognized university can apply for this course.
  • MA: For the MA courses offered by the university, the candidates with a graduation degree from a recognized university are eligible.

For diploma courses:

  • Diploma in Nutrition & Health Education: The candidates are required to pass their class 12th exam from a recognized board.
  • Diploma in Urdu: The candidate should clear the 10th class exam with Urdu as one of the subjects or Certificate in Urdu Language from IGNOU or equivalent.
  • Diploma in Business Process Outsourcing: A pass in 10+2 or its equivalent with English as compulsory subject & 50% marks in aggregate or a bachelor’s degree or above with English as compulsory subject at 10+2 level is required.
  • Diploma in Nursing Administration:Sc (Nursing) or General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) with two years of experience is mandatory for admission in this course.

For postgraduate diploma courses:

  • Post Graduate Diploma in Analytical Chemistry: Science Graduate with Chemistry as one of the subjects (B. Pharma also) are eligible to apply.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication: Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years experience in a media/ communication organization is required.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Sales Management: Graduate candidates with Science in 10+2 or 2 years of working experience as a medical representative in a Pharma industry can apply.
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Medicine: The candidates with an MBBS degree are eligible to apply.

Admit Card

  • For the programmes for which admission will be granted on the basis of entrance exam, admit card will be released.
  • The candidates are required to carry the admit card along with them at the time of exam or else they will not be allowed to enter the exam hall.
  • The details of the exam venue and schedule will be communicated to the candidates through the admit card.
  • The admit card is an important document that must be kept safe until the process of admission is over.

Result

  • The result of the IGNOU entrance exam 2020 will be declared online on the official website.
  • Candidates will be able to check their result using their enrolment id and programme code.
  • A merit list of the candidates will be prepared on the basis of marks scored by them in the entrance test.
  • For the programmes for which no entrance test is conducted, merit list will be made on the basis of their marks in the qualifying exam.
  • Separate merit lists will be prepared for admissions into different courses.

Admission Process

  • The selection of the candidates will be done on the basis of the merit list prepared.
  • Applicants will be allotted seats according to their rank in the merit list and the programme choice offered by them.
  • The candidates will have to get their eligibility and certificates verified when they report for the admissions.
  • After successful verification of the candidates, they will be offered final admissions.
