CSIR NET 2022: Application Form, Exam Date, Exam Pattern, Syllabus

The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts the National Eligibility Test (NET) for determining the eligibility for Junior Research Fellows (JRFs) and Lecturers twice a year.  Interested candidates can apply for the test by filling the online application form. The application form will be available most probably from 2nd week of March 2022 for June session and 2nd week of August 2022 for December session. Before filling the form, candidates should go through the eligibility criteria set by the authority.

The exam will be conducted on offline mode where candidates will be given a question booklet and an OMR answer sheet to mark the answers. The duration of the exam will be 3 hours. Candidates can take the booklet with them after the exam is finished.

CSIR NET 2022 Application Form

In order to apply for CSIR NET exam, candidates need to visit the official website as the form will only be available only on online mode. Candidates should keep the relevant documents, scanned photograph and signature handy. The application form must be filled with proper care. The details to be mentioned in the form should be true to the candidate’s knowledge. The application form will include details such as name, father’s name, category, mobile number, address, educational qualification etc. Applicants also need to indicate the choice for eligibility for i.e. either JRF, or lectureship. Once the application form is submitted, candidates need to note down the application number for future reference. Multiple applications will be rejected by the authority. Candidates also will be required to pay the necessary application fee failing which their form will be rejected.

The application fee can be paid online i.e. through credit card, debit card and net banking.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria to be fulfilled by the candidates are as follows-

Age criteria: There will be no age restrictions for lectureship. However for JRF, the age of candidates must not exceed 28 years as on 1st July 2022. Candidates belonging to reserved category can claim relaxation in age as per the rules.

Educational qualification

  • Candidates should have done M.Sc or equivalent degree /Integrated BS-MS / BS-4 years / BE / B.Tech / B Pharma / MBBS with minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates).
  • Those appearing in the final year of M.Sc program or have passed it as on the closing date of the application form can apply under the Result Awaited (RA) category.
  • Sc. (Hons) or equivalent degree holders or those enrolled in Integrated MS-Ph.D program by securing minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST/PWD candidates) are also eligible to apply.
  • Those who have only completed their bachelor’s degree cannot apply for lectureship.

CSIR NET 2022 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern for CSIR NET exam is provided below-

  • Exam Mode: Offline (Pen and Paper based)
  • Exam Duration: Three Hours
  • Medium: Hindi and English
  • Total number of papers: two i.e. one to be held in morning session and other in afternoon session.
  • Types of Questions: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
  • Total Marks: 200 Marks
  • Negative Marking: There will be negative marking for wrong answers.

CSIR NET Syllabus

The question booklet will be divided into three parts-

Part A: This part will be common to all the subjects. The questions will be asked on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, numerical ability, quantitative comparison, puzzle, series formulations etc.

Part B: This part will correspond to the subject related questions.

Part C: This section contains higher value questions that will test the candidate’s knowledge of scientific concepts and/or application of the scientific concepts. The questions will be of analytical nature where a candidate needs to apply the scientific knowledge to arrive at the solution to the given scientific problem.

Admit card

  • Candidates can download the admit card from the official website of CSIR NET.
  • The authority won’t send the admit card via post, email or means other than the online one.
  • Candidates should keep a few printout copies of the hall ticket and retain it for future reference.
  • Without the admit card, no candidate will be allowed to take the exam.
  • The admit card should not be damaged or torn under any circumstances.

Result

  • Candidates can check the result of CSIR NET 2022 from the official website.
  • The authority will prepare a merit list of the candidates based on their performance in the exam.
  • Two merit lists will be prepared, one for JRF only and other for lectureship.
  • Candidates who qualify the exam will receive the fellowship from either CSIR or UGC as per the assignment with which they may find an association.
  • Applicants who have chosen lectureship can apply for the post of lecturer in any college/University.
