CMAT 2021: Application Form, Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Preparation Strategy

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2021 will be conducted to select the eligible candidates for admissions into MBA degree programme. The exam will be conducted at a national level and the candidates from all over India can apply for it. Enrolment will be given into different management institutes of the country that accepts the CMAT score. The application form for the entrance test has been released online and the exam will also be held on 22nd/ 27th February 2021. The score of the CMAT 2021 will be valid for one year and on the basis of it the candidates can apply for admissions only for the academic year 2021-22.

Eligibility Criteria

The following eligibility criteria need to be fulfilled by the candidates who want to apply for the CMAT 2021:

  • Nationality: The applying candidates must be of Indian nationality.
  • Age limit: There is no age limit to apply for CMAT 2021.
  • Qualification: The candidates with a graduation degree in any stream are eligible to apply. Those who will be appearing in their graduation final year exam in the year 2021 are also eligible. However, it is mandatory that their final results are announced before the beginning of the classes.

Application Form

The interested candidates can register online for CMAT 2021. The candidates will first have to register themselves, submit the application fee and then they can fill and submit their application form.

  • During the registration, the candidates will have to enter their basic details in the registration form such as name, mobile number, email id, etc.
  • After successful registration, no changes in the entered details will be possible. The candidates will also receive a unique password after successful registration.
  • Next, the candidates will have to make application fee submission which can be done online using credit card/ debit card/ net banking or via cash using Challan.
  • The application fee will be Rs. 1400/- for general/ OBC candidates and Rs 700/- for Female/ SC/ ST/ PWD category candidates.
  • After fee submission, the candidates can log in using their id and password and fill the rest of the details in the application form.
  • After you provide all the personal and educational details as asked in the application form and uploading scanned copies of photograph and signature, you can submit the form online.
  • Do not forget to take a printout of the filled-in application form and keep it safe for future reference.

Exam Pattern

The basic pattern of the CMAT 2021 exam is given as follows:

  • Mode of exam: Computer-based test
  • Duration of the test: 3 hours
  • Type of questions: Objective type
  • Number of questions: 100
  • Total marks: 400
  • Marking scheme: +4 marks will be given for each right answer
  • Negative marking: -1 mark will be given for each incorrect answer

Syllabus

As such no syllabus is prescribed for CMAT but the important topics for the exam are given below:

  • Language Comprehension: Reading Passages, Synonyms, Antonyms, Vocabulary, Sentence Correction, Error Omission, etc
  • Logical Reasoning: Number & Letter Series, Binary Logic, Venn Diagram, Puzzles, Syllogisms, Blood Relation, Seating Arrangement, etc
  • Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation: Time & Distance, Simple & Compound Interest, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Profit & Loss, etc
  • General Awareness: India & the World, Current Affairs, Awards, Scientific Research, Geography, History, Polity, Science & Technology, etc

Preparation Strategies

Below given are the basic preparation tips that the aspirants can follow to clear the CMAT 2021:

  • Since ample amount of time is left for the exam, make your aptitude basics strong. RS Aggarwal is the best book for basic logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude preparation.
  • Give proper time to each section depending on which section you are strong in and in which you are weak. Proper time does not mean equal time to all section.
  • Practicing previous years’ question papers can provide you a better understanding of the exam pattern.
  • Make a list of all the important formulae at one place so that you can go through them whenever needed.
  • Revise on a regular basis to keep the topics (especially those related to General Awareness) fresh in your mind.

Admit Card

  • The candidates will be able to download the admit card for appearing in the exam from the official website.
  • The admit card will only be available online and will not be sent through post/ courier.
  • The candidates should download their admit card and take its printout to be carried to the exam center.
  • A valid identity proof must also be carried to the exam center along with the admit card.
  • The details of the exam center will be communicated to the candidates through the admit card.

Result

  • The result of the admission test will be declared in online mode expectedly in the month of February 2021.
  • The candidates will be able to see their result using their id and password.
  • Depending on the marks obtained by the candidates, merit list will be prepared.
  • The admissions into different B-schools will be given to the candidates on the basis of their merit.
