CLAT 2024: Application Form, Eligibility, Syllabus, Exam Pattern,

CLAT ExamCLAT 2024 application form will release in online mode. Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) will be organized by the University under National Law Universities (NLUs) on a rotational basis. There are a total of 19 Universities under NLUs. Through CLAT 2024, candidates can get admission in UG and PG law courses offered by these Universities. Candidates can apply for the test via online mode only.

The exam will be conducted in online mode where a computer system will be allotted to the candidate to answer the questions displayed on the screen. Before heading to the form filling part, candidates must make sure to check their eligibility status for the exam. Foreign Nationals seeking admission to any of the UG/PG courses in any of the participating NLUs should directly contact the concerned University.

CLAT 2024 Application Form

Candidates need to register themselves for the exam by visiting the official website i.e. www.clat.ac.in. They must have an active email id and valid mobile number to register for CLAT. Once the registration is finished, candidates will receive a provisional registration number and password on their registered mobile number and email address. The same details must be used to login into the website in order to fill the online application form. Candidates should keep the scanned copy of photograph, signature and certificate in PDF format issued by competent authority to support the claim of specially abled persons (SAP) ready before filling the form.

Applicants need not send the hardcopy of the filled-in application form to the authority. No alteration/editing will be permitted in the application form after successful submission of the form. Candidates should provide the authentic information in the application form. If the information given by the candidate appears to be false during any stage then candidature of such candidates will be cancelled to the immediate effect. It is mandatory for the applicants to pay the application fee for the test.

Mode of Payment: Applicants can pay the application fee through online mode (Net banking/credit card/debit card/pay wallet/Ru Pay etc) or via E-Challan. Candidates opting for E-Challan need to take the printout of the computer generated Challan to the relevant bank and payment should be deposited in cash at the cash counter.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for CLAT 2024 exam is given below-

Nationality: Indian nationals/ NRI and NRI sponsored candidates can apply for the test. Foreign nationals need not apply for the CLAT exam.

Eligibility for UG courses

  • Age limit: No upper age defined
  • Qualifying exam: Applicants must have passed class 12th or its equivalent from a recognized board/university.
  • Percentage required: Minimum 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST candidates) are required in the qualifying exam.
  • Note: Those appearing in class 12th can also apply.

Eligibility for PG courses

  • Age limit: No upper age defined
  • Qualifying exam: Applicants must have done LLB/5- years of Integrated LLB (Hons.) or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Percentage required: Minimum 55% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) are required in the qualifying exam.
  • Note: Candidates must have passed/appeared in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of admission.

CLAT 2024 Exam Pattern

The exam pattern of Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is as follows-

  • Exam mode: Online (computer-based test)
  • Language: English
  • Duration: 2 hours
  • Type of questions: Objective type (MCQ based)
  • Maximum marks: 200 marks for UG and 150 marks for PG
  • Marking scheme: 1 mark will be awarded for right answer
  • Negative marking:25 marks will be deducted for wrong answer

CLAT Syllabus

The syllabus of CLAT exam is as follows-

English: Candidates will be tested for knowledge of English language and proficiency. Questions will be asked on grammar, sentence correction, jumble words/sentence, antonym, word and their meaning, synonym, comprehension etc.

Mathematics: In this section, basic numerical ability of the candidate will be assessed and the questions will be of class 10th level.

GK and current affairs: This section will test the general knowledge including the static GK. Candidates should be familiar with the current events happening in and around the world.

Legal aptitude: This part will test the interest of the candidate in law, research aptitude and problem-solving approach.

Logical reasoning: This section will test the candidate’s ability to identify the patterns, apply logic and reasoning in solving questions. Questions will be asked on syllogism, decision making, direction sense, blood relation, puzzle, series, classification and analogy etc.

Admit card

Candidates can download the admit card of CLAT 2024 only from the official website of the CLAT i.e. www.clat.ac.in. The hall ticket will most probably be released in the 3rd week of April 2024. Applicants must take the printout copy of the same and keep it safe for future references. They must bring the admit card to the exam hall failing which they won’t be permitted to take the test. Any discrepancy in the admit card must be communicated to the authority without any delay.

Result and Admission

The result of CLAT 2024 test will most probably be declared in the last week of May 2024. Candidates can check the result by visiting the official website. CLAT result will be displayed in form of a merit list where the name and roll number of the candidates will be published who have qualified the exam as per the cutoff decided by the authority. Such candidates will undergo the counselling process where a seta will be allotted to them by the authority.

A centralized counselling will be organized online and will be held in many rounds. The seats will be allotted as per the merit-cum-preference basis i.e., the CLAT Rank, the order of preference given by the candidate, the category selected by the candidate in the application form and the number of seats available in each of the participating universities.
